Summer Parks/Public Works Laborer
Under the general supervision of the Public Works Supervisor or Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation, performs manual labor for a variety of maintenance, operational and construction activities related to Public Works or Parks infrastructure, or service delivery. Performs heavy manual labor for extended periods; and works in adverse weather conditions.
Employment for Summer Laborer in the Public Works or the Parks Department is from mid-May, 2025 through mid-August, 2025.
Routine Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Parks Laborers Responsibilities:
- Assists with park maintenance projects.
- Repairs and replaces park equipment.
- Assists with landscaping work in parks and at facilities.
- Assists and performs janitorial duties in park facilities.
- Assist maintaining City buildings and property.
- Assists park staff in arborist work activity in parks and at City facilities.
- Operates vehicles and assorted hand and power tools.
- Performs heavy manual labor.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Assists with street maintenance projects.
- Repairs and replaces traffic control devices.
- Assists with the application of pavement markings.
- Assists with the maintenance of sanitary and storm sewer systems.
- Maintains City buildings and property.
- Assists in the collection of solid waste.
- Operates vehicles and assorted hand and power tools.
- Performs heavy manual labor.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Attend safety meetings and seminars as required and promotes safety. Follows all City and department safety policies and procedures.
Typical Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Ability to take initiative.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Problem-solving ability.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Ability to concentrate in a diverse work setting.
- Sound judgment and decision-making abilities.

There are multiple openings available for the 2025 season. Applicants selected will be invited to participate in the interview process.
