Description
One of the major issues identified by Urbandale Chamber of Commerce members in relation to developing the talent in their organization is development of their leaders. With that in mind, the Chamber proudly offers the Urbandale Chamber Manager's Boot Camp. Being a manager can require a new set of skills. The Urbandale Chamber of Commerce Manager's Boot Camp is aimed at emerging leaders who have been given the opportunity to manage others. This series builds on the current skills attendees have and provides a survival kit of essential management skills. We have partnered with ATW Training Solutions as our training partner. This series will cover the following topics:
Session 1: (June 1st from 2-5 p.m.) - Role of the Manager
- The difference between management & leadership
- Managers role in performance management
- Setting and achieving smart goals
- Providing feedback to reinforce positive behavior and redirect negative behavior
- Conducting the coaching discussion
- Understanding your communication style through the DiSC Assessment
- Identifying communication styles of those you lead
- Flexing your communication style to maximize leadership effectiveness
- Drive accountability through defining clear results
- Empower your team to focus on results, not just tasks and activities
- Foster a workplace of trust and feedback to promote accountability
- Presentation skills for leadership situations
- Effectively group presentations
