Mica is a proud Des Moines native who joined ATW in 2025. Mica has a background in training and development, and K-12 education, where she discovered her passion for adult learning. Mica holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Drake University and a Master of Science in Adult Learning and Leadership from Kansas State University with a graduate certificate in Social Justice Education.  Mica is a DiSC certified practitioner in DiSC, HBDI, Crucial Conversations and Crucial Influence as well as a Gallup-certified CliftonStrengths Coach and 200-hour certified teacher in Mindfulness, Social Emotional Leaning (SEL), and Yoga. She is dedicated to fostering personal and professional growth, helping individuals learn more about themselves and others, and encouraging positive change.  Mica also serves as the Director of Education for the Association of Talent Development (ATD) of Central Iowa, and the School Improvement Advisory Council for her local school district.  Outside of work, Mica enjoys spending time with her family, walking, reading and cooking.

About the Mayor Contact: Mayor Mike Jones can be reached at mike.jones@windsorheights.org. Professional Work & Education Mike Jones was elected to his first term on the Windsor Heights City Council in 2018 and now serves as Mayor. He has been involved in politics since high school and is interested in political issues that affect us at the city, state, and national levels. Mike was born in Des Moines and graduated from Johnston High School. After high school, he attended DMACC, where he earned his Associate of Arts. He attended the University of Iowa where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science. Following that, he returned home to attend Drake University Law School where he graduated with a Juris Doctor in 2011. After passing the bar examination, Mike worked in private practice before joining the State Public Defender’s Office in 2012. An attorney in the Des Moines Adult Office, he represents indigent clients in a variety of matters from serious felonies to simple misdemeanors. He is a member of the Iowa State and American Bar Association. Priorities Mike’s priorities are promoting greater fiscal responsibility in city government, stressing continuing infrastructure improvements on a yearly basis, and encouraging economic growth in a landlocked city. More specifically, Mike’s goals are to see a road or sewer improvement every/every other year and a new economic development project every year. Mike would like to see Windsor Heights as the most sought out community in the metro with affordable housing and destination businesses. Term Mayor Mike Jones' term expires January 2028.

Higgins Plaza Service combines dependable automotive repair with meaningful community involvement. In 2025, the business supported a wide range of local causes. It also enhances the area through its maintained storefront and green space, contributing to the overall appearance and accessibility of the neighborhood.

Oxygen Yoga & Fitness has created an inclusive environment focused on physical and mental well-being. The business has supported the community through free classes, partnerships with small businesses, and contributions to schools and nonprofits. Their outreach efforts in 2025 included local pop-ups, fundraising support, and initiatives that directly served both educators and local businesses.

For more than 20 years, ATW Training Solutions has supported businesses and employees through professional development programs focused on leadership, communication, and team-building. In addition to its services, the organization has remained actively involved in the Urbandale Chamber through educational sessions, committee work, board service, and community events. Their ongoing engagement reflects a strong commitment to both local businesses and the broader community.

A longstanding fixture in Urbandale, Friedrichs Coffee will celebrate its 35th anniversary in 2026. Its location at 86th and Meredith has long served as a gathering place for residents, professionals, and visitors. The business has also expanded its reach to the Des Moines Airport. Over the years, Friedrichs has supported local nonprofits, schools, churches, and community organizations through consistent giving and participation.

Midland Credit Union is recognized for its strong commitment to improving financial well-being within the community. Through education, personalized support, and partnerships like Change Course, the organization helps individuals build financial stability. Owners LeAnn and Jennifer are actively involved in Chamber initiatives, city events, and community efforts such as Community Fridge fill days. Kneifl Wealth Management supports long-term economic health by helping families build sustainable financial futures. Their involvement includes volunteerism, sponsorships, nonprofit leadership, and partnerships that benefit other small businesses. Each group is limited by size and industry. Participation in the program is annual and members must commit to coming to the meetings, which are held every month from 11:30-1:00 pm in the Aisha R. Syed Board Room at the Chamber office, located at 2830 100th Street, Ste #110., Urbandale.

The Connectors promote and support the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce as the welcoming arm of the Chamber. The Urbandale Chamber would not be as successful without our Connectors! These volunteers assist in connecting members to one another and helping new members learn about all of the benefits of the Chamber. At our 100+ annual events, Connectors greet members at event registrations, lead table conversations, and promote the Chamber and its purpose. It is a privilege to be a part of this group and it shall be limited in number not to exceed 10% of the membership.
