Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month: Offer 2 for $25 Lunches and 2 for $50 Dinners

September 4, 2024 Des Moines, Iowa-- Each year Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15th to October 15th and to kick off the celebration, 24 Des Moines area restaurants have joined the newly created Iowa Latino Hospitality Council to launch the first annual Latino Restaurant Week. Created to help consumers explore the diversity and unique regional flavors of Latino cuisine, for 11 days the two dozen participating restaurants are offering pre fixe menus with two course lunches at 2 for $25 and three course dinners at 2 for $50.

“Latino Restaurant Week is not just about enjoying great food at a great price; it's about celebrating our culture and supporting our community," said Gloria Henriquez, President of the Iowa Latino Hospitality Council and owner/operator of Tullpa Restaurant in Des Moines. "We want everyone to explore the rich and diverse flavors of Latino cuisine and learn more about the traditions that make our food unique."
In addition to traditional favorites from the seven culinary regions of Mexico, Iowa Latino Restaurant Week guests will have the opportunity to explore flavors from Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, Bolivia, El Salvador, and more. The brand-new event encourages Iowans to share their experiences on social media. Photos posted to the event’s Instagram account (#iowalatinorestaurantweek) will automatically enter participants in a daily drawing for a $25 gift card to one of the participating establishments.

Menus can be previewed on the events page of the Iowa Latino Hospitality Council. Participating Restaurants include: Blue Bean (both locations) Cancun (both locations), Ceviche Bar, El Barco, El Fogon (both locations), El Guacamole, El Toro Loco, Fiesta Mexican (West Des Moines, Pleasant Hill, Adel, & North Liberty), Flame Cantina, La Cuscatleca, Los Allegres, Malo, Margarita ‘s, Mi Patria, Panka Peruvian Restaurant, Puerto Rico Restaurant, Roots 95 Craft Kitchen & Bar, and Tullpa Restaurant.
