Associate Insurance Agent

The Associate Agent role markets, prospects, and sells American Family Insurance products in all product lines. Develops and implements targeted marketing and lead generation programs to identify new prospects, cross-sell opportunities and grow the agency’s brand in the community. Maintains effective customer relationships, understands customer`s needs and matches them with appropriate product and service offerings.
The Associate Agent is responsible for attaining sales, profitability, customer service, and retention goals.

  • Organizes and manages the process for identifying market opportunities 
  • Develops, communicates and implements marketing strategies
  • Coordinates appropriate resources for agency marketing programs
  • Aligns with current brand marketing strategies to ensure continual development of lead generation
  • Analyzes and tracks results of marketing efforts and makes adjustments using continuous improvement methods
  • Manages agency social media content development, interactions and as applicable, advertising
  • Manages agency’s search engine optimization and online review platforms, and encourages new positive reviews
Agency Account Growth
  • Helps the Agency grow by using consultative techniques to educate and sell insurance products to new customers
  • Proactively contacts existing customers to educate on new and/or additional coverage offerings
  • Prospects for new business through leads, telephone calls, networking events, trade shows and personal contacts (Includes leads through referrals, personal and professional networks, social media, and sales lead groups)
  • Secures new business through individual effort and established lead methods
  • Prepares proposals and applications and delivers effective presentations
  • Complies with underwriting guidelines and contacts appropriate division for guidance when needed
  • Conducts consultative appointments with prospective and current customers
  • Meets and exceeds sales goals
 Company and Brand Promotion
  • Develops, maintains, and cultivates community contacts to enhance agency visibility
  • Participates in events designed to promote brand awareness and educate consumers
 Insurance Service
  • Retains existing customers by providing industry leading customer experiences 
  • Ensures completion of requested account and policy updates and changes
  • Coordinates the involvement of appropriate agency and/or business partners when necessary to resolve customer issues
  • Educates and promotes customer satisfaction program with new and existing customers
 Knowledge and Skill Development
The Agency supports and encourages personal and professional growth of all employees, and prefers to promote from within when employees are proactive in their continued development.
  • Continually improves knowledge in area or field of specialization, insurance industry, products, underwriting requirements, sales, customer service and supporting technology
  • Participates in continuing education and professional designation programs
  • Required by state statutes to have proper insurance licensing to sell, solicit or negotiate insurance products.  The following lines of authority are required for this position within 30 days of hire:  Property; Casualty; and Life
    • Agency will provide an opportunity for reimbursement on licensing fees and study materials.
  • Valid driver’s license required

  • Experience with PC software applications (Microsoft Office Suites, Internet Explorer, etc.)
  • Experience using a wide range of digital devices such as smartphones, tablets and laptop computers
  • Experience with social media platforms, including, but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, Instagram, Google+, LinkedIn, etc.
 Knowledge/Skills/Education/Designations Preferred (Not Required)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of insurance concepts and principles
  • Demonstrated effective multi-line insurance prospecting and sales experience
 Working Conditions
  • Non-typical schedules (evenings or weekends) may be necessary on occasion
  • General office setting
