Palmer Group has partnered with this reputable local client to fill the Payroll Coordinator position. In this role, you will assist in all processing aspects of a weekly payroll that spans multi-states and includes union and non-union employees. Responsibilities: 
  • Assist with the preparation and processing of weekly payroll
  • Process payroll in the absence of the Payroll Specialist Business Partner
  • Review and guarantee the accuracy of approved timesheets and electronic payroll records
  • Establish and maintain employee records as needed; ensure that employee changes are entered correctly and made on a timely basis
  • Setup, track, and ensure proper deduction of all garnishments and other special payroll deductions
  • Oversee the preparation and remittance of federal, state, and local tax reports in a timely manner
  • Perform other processing as needed, including preparing weekly accrual payments, recording vehicle usage, certified payrolls, monthly union reports, employment verifications, etc.
  • Inspect and input employee expense reports as needed
  • Work with time off management to ensure balancing between ADP Workforce Now and timekeeping systems
  • Coordinate union workers' compensation and payroll audits
  • Collaborate with union partners and operation managers to uphold compliance with bargaining agreements
  • Work with the benefits team and ADP Workforce Now to process W-2 forms at year-end
  • Partake in ad-hoc projects as needed
  • Help with the onboarding of all union employees
  • Pursue the continual betterment of processes and procedures 
Requirements:
  • Degree in accounting is preferred
  • 3+ of payroll processing, tax withholding, and garnishment experience
  • Previous experience processing union payrolls is preferred
  • General knowledge of ADP Workforce Now software or other similar HCM products required
  • Understanding of state and federal tax laws; including wage and overtime requirements
  • Strong skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion
  • Excellent problem-solving/judgment skills and a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize to meet deadlines
  • Active member of the American Payroll Association
  • Ability to sit at a desk all-day
  • Outstanding organizational and communication skills 
  • Ability to multi-task
