Description
How to Sell without “Selling”
Many of us might be in “official” sales roles, but ALL of us do some type of selling. Whether you are a salesperson, fundraiser, therapist, administrative assistant, banker, painter, or coffee maker – each role requires strong sales skills even if you aren’t “selling”.
Join us for a YP Sales Workshop where you’ll leave with a bright, shiny new 30-second elevator speech, language/words to use when you are making new calls, and a strategy for growing your business (or increasing your customers or getting more “yeses” at work).
Meet the Panelists:
Weston Hefel
Weston Hefel is a native of Grimes, Iowa. After graduating from Dallas Center-Grimes High School in 2018, he attended Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) for two years, earning his Associate of Arts (AA) degree. He then transferred to Iowa State University in Ames, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the Ivy College of Business.
Upon completing his education, Weston began working as a sales representative for Payteva, a credit card processing company based in Urbandale. Payteva focuses on providing local business owners with cost savings and exceptional, personalized customer service. Within his first year, Weston was recognized as a top performer and team leader within the sales team. This achievement led to his promotion to Sales Director, a position he currently holds.
Weston's hobbies include playing golf, reading, and spending time with his girlfriend.
Holly Adams
Holly, a farm girl from Northwest Iowa, settled in Des Moines in 2006 after graduating with a business degree from Northwestern College in Orange City. It took until 2017 to plant roots a little deeper by buying a house in the Beaverdale area. Once she did, she met her husband shortly after and abandoned her 13 years of Corporate America in 2019 to become a Realtor. She's never looked back and is incredibly grateful for a career that allows her to impact and engage in the community. Buying or selling a home can be such an exciting time of change and it brings her great joy to see her client’s plans come together. She loves getting to know people and helping them through a major life change, and in the words of a client, finally found her calling.
Curvin Larson
Curvin is a dedicated insurance agent with Comparion Insurance Agency. Despite challenging markets, he’s utilized digital tools to grow his book of business through strategic sourcing and community involvement. A committed member of the Urbandale Chamber since 2016, Curvin has been engaged with genYP, including serving on the leadership team for four years and as Chair in 2022. An advocate for community engagement, he has been involved in all sorts of initiatives from founding a 5K run to planning a business conference and a golf tournament. With a strong foundation in sales and a passion for community involvement, Curvin brings a unique and inspiring perspective to the genYP panel.
The YP2YP series highlights young professionals within our circle who are experts in their fields. Instead of turning to outside sources, we wanted to showcase the peer to peer talent within genYP. These panels offer knowledge and insight into hot topics from people you know and trust, and have likely met at YP events.
