SUMMARY:genYP Branding Yourself as a Professional Series
DESCRIPTION:This workshop series is designed to provide young professionals with information to excel in their professional and civic endeavors. The series includes 4 different workshop classes (listed below). Participants will be introduced to new tools to bolster their career\, interact with leaders and be challenged as future leaders.\n\n\n\nCost: $25/workshop \n\nAll workshops will take place from 8:00 am-9:30 am in the RODAN Board Room at the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce (2830 100th Street\, Ste 110\, Urbandale).\n\n\n\nUpcoming Workshop Dates:\n\n Thursday\, June 28: Emotional Intelligence presented by Marlyn Jerome\,M.A.\, M.S. Higher Ed. Instructor and MAT-Iowa Coordinator\, Purdue Global\n\nWhen you think of what makes a person "intelligent"\, what comes to mind? Many equate intelligence with book smarts\, a specific skill set\, or one's ability to think critically/analytically. This presentation will expand on those concepts and reflect on the concept of "emotional intelligence" or "EI". Participants will learn what emotional intelligence is\, why it is important in human relationships and personal well-being\, as well as learn how to assess their level of "EI" and expand upon it. \n\nInclusion: Moving From Implicit Bias to Acceptance presented by Renee Hardman\, Principal Owner of Hardman Consulting and newly elected City Councilwomen of West Des Moines (only second woman and first African American women to hold this seat)\n\n\n	Learn what Implicit Bias is and how it manifests itself into decisions we make and in our relationships with others. Participants will have the opportunity to examine how their Implicit Biases toward others create "walls and fences" resulting in the inability to move to full acceptance of people different from themselves. The presentation will focus on the need to challenge our biases and the filters by which we see the world with the goal of embracing others without judgment.\n\n\n\n\n\nFriday\, December 7: Developing Your Leadership Influence presented by Libby Ehrig\, Facilitator\, ATW Training Solutions\n\n\n	Are the people you lead committed to their work\, their teams\, and organizational results? Most employees are merely compliant they come to work\, do the minimum\, and leave. In this session\, we'll look at what takes to become a more influential leader\, no matter your role. We'll also introduce you to The Five Levels of Leadership\, a specific model to lead people to higher levels of commitment. You'll leave this session knowing what you can do to lead with integrity\, earn the respect of those around you\, and ultimately\, achieve results.\n\n\n \n\n*Presenters and topics are subject to change. \n\nThank you to our 2018 genYP Program Investor:\n\nTwo Rivers Bank and Trust
